Arthur W. Nesbitt Scholarship

The All-American Dairy Foundation is pleased to announce that applications are being accepted for the Arthur W. Nesbitt Scholarship to be awarded at the 2024 All-American Dairy Show to be held September 14-18, 2024 at Harrisburg, PA. This is a $1000.00 college scholarship and is awarded based on academic achievement and participation in Youth Events at the All-American Dairy Show. Applications are due July 15, 2024. This scholarship is awarded in honor of Art Nesbitt, former Chairman of Nasco.

Rules and Requirements for the Arthur W. Nesbitt Scholarship – 2025

Applicant Eligibility:

  1. To qualify for this scholarship, the applicant must have participated in one or more activities prior to the 2024 All-American Dairy Show, including the Premier National Junior Show, and/or Dairy Youth Challenge Contests; Showmanship, Dairy Management, Invitational Dairy Cattle Judging, and 4-H & FFA Judging Forum.
  2. Any applicant enrolled in a degree (undergraduate) or certificate program at a post-secondary educational institution (college, university, trade, or technical school) may apply.  
  3. There is no stipulation about the type of major or program interest the applicant is pursuing to be eligible for this scholarship. 
  4. A new application may be submitted by previous applicants. 
  5. Previous winners of this scholarship are not eligible to reapply.
  6. There is no age requirement.
  7. Completed applications with required documentation, and postmarked no later than July 15, 2024.
  8. An applicant may apply during the academic years to secure a degree or certificate.

Application Procedure to verify the applicant’s enrollment:

  1. Applicants completing one (1) or more semesters must submit the following;
    1. A copy of the current institution’s paid semester tuition bill,
    2. Copies of current institution’s current transcript. 
  2. Applicants entering an educational institution within seven (7) months must submit the following: (Applicant can be an entering Freshman)
    1. A copy of the acceptance letter from the intended Institution,
    2. A copy of the High School transcript.

General:

  1. For the scholarship to be tax- free, the All-American Dairy Foundation will pay the recipients Bursar’s Office of the educational institution.  Applicants will be notified upon payment to the Institution.
  2. Applicant should endeavor to attend the presentation event at the All-American Dairy Show.
  3. The All-American Dairy Foundation has the right to curtail or expand the Arthur W. Nesbitt Scholarship due to financial ability.
  4. Repeated entry into the Arthur W. Nesbitt Scholarship must be a new set of documents meeting the rules and instructions as posted for the current year applying.  

Judging Criteria:

  1. All-American Dairy Show – 30%
  2. Career Path Essay – 20%
  3. Dairy Industry Essay – 30%
  4. Academics – 20%

2025 Instructions for the Arthur W Nesbitt Scholarship

Application Deadline:

  1. Application documents must be emailed to Ryan Haines at haines52@vt.edu by July 15, 2025. Contact Ryan with any application questions.

Required Application Documents: 

  1. A recent facial photograph (jpeg), for publicity purposes.
  2. Completed Original Application Form # 1
  3. A copy of a recent or current semester paid tuition invoice or acceptance letter.
  1. A College or University transcript, or a High School Transcript if a University Transcript is not available. (Not required for Trade or Technical School attendee.)
